Intertidal Ephemeralities

new.jpg

The site of the harbour is a dynamic one. Guided by time and tide, it is temporal in terms of the movement of marine life, boats, fish, trucks, birds, political organisations, fishing cycles, selling activities etc.

The network diagram aims to unfold the vital entities that assist in the functioning of this harbour and the numerous activities that happen here.

The drawing develops over a schematic geography of the existing site and gets divided into three parts, the land, the intertidal zone, and the sea. Likewise, the multiple entities get mapped out according to this conceptualised geography.

The network also helps us understand the intense web of connections between entities, helping us realise that there is a gamut of organisations working toward a singular goal and that no party can function solitarily.

It also focuses on political, environmental, and other permanent anchors such as the fishermen, transport, boats etc. Through conversations and keen observations on site, over a span of 7 days, we attempt to organise these fragments to comprehend the density of the site.

It is only evident that a thinking and organisation process is made of several coordinates and forces which act together to make something work. These coordinates - people, agencies, material such as objects, and data are at play.
